On March 8, 2024 the Kavli Nanoscience Institute celebrated its twentieth anniversary with an all-day symposium featuring luminaries in battery technology, quantum computing, semiconductor manufacturing, and energy science. We closed the event with a special poster session and reception, featuring the work of many KNI researchers. A contest for Best Poster and People's Choice was held, and six presenters were selected to receive cash prizes. The winners were:
Emily Hwang
Emily Hwang is a graduate student in Materials Science and a researcher in Scott Cushing's lab. Emily won first place for her poster entitled, "UV-NIR Frequency Conversion with Lithium Niobate Nanophotonic Waveguides for On-chip Spectroscopy" (poster PDF).
Hanxun Jin
Hanxun Jin is a postdoctoral researcher in Julia Greer's lab in the division of Engineering and Applied Science. Hanxun received second place for Best Poster for his poster entitled, "Stochastic Nano-architected Metals with Ultra-high Energy Absorption" (poster PDF).
Omid Aligholamioskooee (Golami)
Omid Golami is a graduate student in Electrical Engineering in Mohammad Mirhosseini's lab. Omid received third prize for Best Poster for his work, entitled, "Silicon phononic crystal resonators electrostatically coupled to microwave circuits" (poster PDF).
Emanuel Green
Emanuel Green is a graduate student in Applied Physics in Andrei Faraon's lab. Emanuel received a People's Choice award for his poster, entitled, "Multipartite Scalable Entanglement of Distributed Rare-Earth Ion Quibits" (poster PDF).
Duxing Hao
Duxing Hao is a graduate student in Physics in Nai-Chang Yeh's lab. Duxing received a People's Choice award for his poster, entitled, "Magnetic Field-Induced Hysteresisin Monolayer Mos2 Transistors" (poster PDF).
