KNI Board member Michael Roukes, joined by the balance of the original team that spurred President Obama's BRAIN initiative, is urging government support for a series of centers that would make the research more efficient and effective. In the journal Neuron, the group proposed the establishment of "a coordinated, national network of neurotechnology centers, devoted to the creation and dissemination of next-generation tools for neuroscience, neuromedicine, and brain-inspired engineering."
